Textbook plays a vital role in the construction and development of a discipline, compilation of textbooks is a huge systematic project, the quality of textbooks have a crucial impact on teachers’teaching effectiveness and students’learning outcomes.For these reasons, topic selection of mainstream Intermediate Spoken Chinese Textbooks of the user’s point of view were studied in detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis, combined basic standards on "topics" from teaching syllabus. Topic category, topic distribution and topic arrangement characteristic of Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks were studied based on statistical data analysis, thus current topic selection problems of Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks were noted and reasonable recommendations of textbook compilation and classroom activities were given.In the study of topic selection of intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks, the control relationships between Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks and teaching syllabus and current topic selection of intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks were studied as two aspects. Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks were studied based on topic content, Function Item and requirements on different levels of teaching syllabus; and Topic category, topic distribution and topic arrangement characteristic of Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks were studied.The survey of Intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks topic was composed of topic preferences of learner and topic preferences of teachers. The survey of intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks topic was not only based on topic preferences of Intermediate level Chinese learners of different gender and from different countries and regions, but also based on topic preferences of Chinese teachers and topic preferences of Chinese teachers assumed for learns, and teachers views on intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks topic and ideal topics.In the deficiencies and recommendations of topic of intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks, based on the research of topic selection and the survey of intermediate spoken Chinese textbooks analysis, current topic selection problems of Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbooks were noted and reasonable recommendations of textbook compilation and classroom activities were given.
