| People pay increasingly weight on the sense of humor, which has a significant influence on the health of psychology by helping to relive stress and ease interpersonal conflict.This research maintain that the sense of humor is individual in the process of understanding,appreciating, expressing and creating humor to integrate their cognition, emotion and behavior habitually, and it has individual variations including four levels from low to high,that is, understanding, appreciating, expressing and creating humor. We chose college students as the research object,exploring and examining Hierarchy Theory of sense of humor.Firstly, this research had a revision on College student multilevel sense of humor scale in the dimension by replacing humor acceptance dimension with humor comprehension dimension to make it more in the line of Hierarchy Theory of sense of humor. After doing opened-questionnaire, preliminary test and retest finally come into being the formal scale. At the same time to examine its reliability, explore layers’ structuring path and examine Hierarchy Theory of sense of humor. Secondly, Study 2 using humorous cartoons and jokes as experimental material,making different humor level people judge the humor of the humorous material, and analyze the difference of the different layers to make a further examination Hierarchy Theory of sense of humor. Finally, Study 3 chose humor comprehension and humor appreciation as the research object,and use ERP as the tool,to compare the brain mechanism’s difference of two of the four levels, that is understanding, appreciating of humor in the humor processing and there is two stages in the humor cognitive processing--mismatch detection and mismatch resolve, this research is mainly to analyze the difference of different layers in which stages.This research come to the conclusion as below:(1) Revised College student multilevel sense of humor scale is suitable as a tool to test university students’ sense of humor with good reliability and validity.The analysis of the structural path of sense of humor verify the hierarchy theory of sense of humor.(2) In the average of dependent variable’s grading on humorous material, that is creation of humor > expression of humor >appreciation of humor > comprehension of humor.(3) In the grading on humor comics, male is higher than female in all layers; in text joke, male is higher than female in humor comprehension, humor appreciating and humor expressing,and female is higher than male in humor creating.(4) From 200 to 400 ms, humor comprehension group and humor appreciating group have significant main effect in the front of the brain. Furthermore, funny ending condition will trigger a more negative ERP( N2) than unfunny ending condition.Showed that subjects detected with the expected inconsistent message at the end of the sentence.(5) From 200 to 400 ms,in the front brain area, humor comprehension group funny ending condition will trigger a more negative ERP(N400-500)than unfunny ending condition; humor appreciating group in the front of the brain will trigger a more negative ERP(N400-500).Showed that subjects detected the end disagree with the expected to further comprehension.(6) From 1400 to 1600 ms,in the back of brain area, humor appreciating group funny ending condition will trigger a more positive ERP(P1400-1600) than unfunny ending condition,furthermore, main effect is significant.But, humor comprehension group have no significant main effects. Showed that subjects will produce a certain emotional responses after understanding punch line.(7) From 200 to 400 ms, the differences between humor comprehension group and humor appreciating group,humor appreciating group funny ending condition than unfunny ending triggered N200-400 amplitude is larger than humor comprehension group.This may be due to humor appreciation group’s sense of humor is higher than humor comprehension group,reaction is more obvious when detecting inconsistent. Showed that a sense of humor of humor appreciating group higher than humor comprehension group,and cognitive,sensitivity is higher than humor comprehension group,when detecting inconsistencies can respond more rapidly and sensitively.(8) From 1400 to 1600 ms, humor comprehension group and humor appreciating group funny ending condition will trigger a more positive ERP than unfunny ending condition,but only humor appreciation group has significant main effect.At the same time, P1400-1600 may be involved in emotion processing stage.May indicate the difference between the humor appreciation and humor comprehension group.The appreciation and like of humor appreciation group to jokes was higher than humor comprehension group.Showed that subjects of humor appreciating group to enjoy and preference jokes is higher than humor comprehension group. |
