On The E-C Translation Of English For Science And Technology In Military Documents From The Perspective Of Skopostheory

In recent years, with the violent development of the science and technology, and the rapid growth of the knowledge-based economy, the countries all around world have enhanced their cooperation and communication. The number of military science and technology literature grows significantly, which results in plenty of translation work. This work can help us strengthen the construction of our military informatization and quickly acquire military information of foreign countries. The development of military documents translation plays an extremely important role in our national defense and military construction. Therefore, enough attention should be paid to the E-C translation of military science and technology literature.Military science and technology English has its own unique stylistic features: Lexically, it has distinctive features of practical, purposeful, and professionalism; syntactically, long sentences and passive voice have been largely employed in military science and technology English; from the point of textual, it belongs to informative text which has the characteristics of logic, practicality, simplicity and formality. Therefore, it’s necessary to pay attention to these stylistic features while undertaking the E-C translation of military science and technology literature, and to adopt military language expression to ensure the accuracy of translation.The author took part in a mountain of military documents translation work during the internship in the Military Economics Academy. The research introduces the preparation work and the procession of translation. Taking the translation of Program Acquisition Cost by Weapon System as an example, the thesis analyzes the text feature of military science and technology English, discusses how the Skopostheory of German Functionalist Approach applied to the practice work, summarizes the translation strategy should be abbey of military science and technology English. The author hopes the thesis can help us get insight into military science and technology literature translation better and provides references for translation practice of military science and technology literature in the future.
