The flipped classroom is a new teaching model which subverts the traditional teaching model that takes the teachers as leading. It will be spread to various universities in Chinese educational reform because of some achievements. The flipped classroom completely reforms the traditional teaching in which students practice after teachers teach, and this teaching model gets remarkable achievements. I also want to try to use this kind of teaching model in English teaching of higher vocational colleges to improve the teaching effect when I see it gets remarkable achievements.The flipped classroom’s research which is on English teaching in higher vocational colleges can start from the definition and characters of the flipped classroom, focuses on the advantages and disadvantages when the flipped classroom is used in higher vocational English teaching, and thoroughly evaluates the practical effect in China. This thesis takes the students in higher vocational colleges as the teaching object, knows the students’ English level of skill and attitude by questionnaires and observation, designed the short-term English course based on students’character with the flipped classroom and puts into practice. Finally, it is verified that the flipped classroom can improve the students’ English level of skill and interest in higher vocational colleges. At the same time, the writer also want to promote the practical application of the flipped classroom in higher vocational education.
