Vocational College Student English Learning Motivation In "Flipped Classroom" Teaching Model

A combination of quantitative and qualitative research method was adopted in this research.Students of two international economic classes of the 2018 vocational college in Hunan were chosen as the experimental objects and control objects,respectively.Three research questions were answered through English learning motivation scale,classroom observation records and interviews:(1)Does flipped classroom teaching model significantly influence students’ English learning motivation of vocational college?(2)What has been changed of students’ English learning motivation under flipped classroom teaching model?(3)What are the reasons for the change in students’ English learning motivation of vocational college?Through the scale test,it was found that compared with the control class,the English learning motivation of the students in experimental class was significantly enhanced.It showed that compared with the traditional college English teaching model,flipped classroom model could arouse the interest of vocational students in English learning and enhance English learning motivation.Through the classroom observation table,it was found that some positive changes in students’ English classroom behaviors,such as arrival time,classroom attention,classroom participation and group participation,etc.Four reasons were discovered through interviews: conversion of classroom roles cooperative learning,design of teaching activities,and teacher’s teaching attitude.The results of this research verified that the flipped classroom teaching model could effectively stimulate the English learning interest of vocational college students,thereby enhancing the motivation of English learning and enriching the research of flipped classroom teaching model in vocational colleges.But,because the experimental period is short as well as the limited and single subjects,there are some shortcomings of this research.The researcher will invest more energy and time in future to improve this research.
