The GlobalEnvironment of Policing is a collection of articles that combine historical andcontemporary analyses of the development of policing and the challenges that haveconfronted in the21stcentury. By doing the translation, the author finds thatnominalization is very common in legal English. As a stylistic feature, nominalizationis a marked feature of legal English. The common way to have nominalization in legalEnglish is to add suffix to verbs and adjectives. By means of nominalization, legaltext becomes more objective, the information density is also enhanced, cohesion andcoherence are achieved. The writer of this report also argues that two methods areused: literal translation and liberal translation. Liberal translation may be furthersubdivided into conversion, division, omission and amplification.
