The establishment of CCTV channel9record in2011has built a good image of China in public during the social transition period.A Bite of China marks the start of a new era, provides an opportunity for the transformation of Chinese documentaries,and made the mass an equal state with the elite in the new media environment.As time pass by, Chinese has never stop loving food and paying attention to create their own culinary arts. Food as a special symbol, communicates with people,spreads door to door, impacts the reformation of social culture, always be regarded as a kind of record daily media material, and an approach to fight against the time.The food documentary belongs to documentary topics.It focuses on the food or culinary culture,introduces the ecological environment from the whole world, recalls the scene of the natural environment and the realistic environment from different countries and regions,expresses the objective understanding and evaluation on performance of food and the chef,and reveals the significative breakthroughs in ritual, ethic and other aspects of our daily life.In this article,through some comparation and analysis of A Bite of China,the domestic food documentary and theory research development has shown a thriving landscape. In the nowadays with the globalization of the knowledge economy,the food documentary can be as powerful means to enhance the country’s soft power, enrich the foreigner’s understanding of Chinese ordinary household affairs, and Chinese social traditional culture.Currently,the most of articles have been confined to the study of narrative strategies,narrative artifice, and narrative functions, but lacked to explore the narrative space. In this article,I chosed four aspects to analyze the space narrative in food documentary of China,like form,function,perspective and rhythm,with A Bite of China as an example,in order to pave the way for space narrative documentary for a further and deeper research system.
