| With the accelerating process of globalization,Mc Luhan’s picture of "global village" has gradually surfaced in front of the world.Information exchange between people is becoming more and more frequent,and cross-cultural communication has become a common social phenomenon.With the enhancement of China’s national strength,China’s international status has also improved significantly.With the theme of strong fireworks and people’s daily life,the documentary series of "One Upon a Bite" has achieved phenomenal cross-cultural communication effect abroad,making China’s excellent culture spread imperceptibly.The way of success contained in it is worth thinking and studying.This thesis takes the documentary series "One Upon a Bite"(24 episodes in three seasons)as the research object,and studies its cross-cultural symbolic significance through text analysis and case analysis.The research is mainly divided into the following five parts:The first chapter summarizes the development process of China’s food documentary.Firstly,taking the key food columns as the time node,the development process of China’s food documentary is divided into germination period,development period and maturity period;Secondly,it summarizes the background of the main research object of this chapter,and explains why the series of documentaries of "One Upon a Bite" can be used as the research object and its value in research.The second chapter uses Hofstede’s cultural onion model to explore the symbolic expression of the documentary series of "One Upon a Bite".This study found that the symbolic level mainly includes food,dialect symbols and music simultaneous sound,which vividly shows the fresh people’s life;The hero level focuses on the protagonists who highlight the regional character in the film,and finds that they also show human wisdom;The ritual level includes two parts:Festival ceremony and dietary behavior,focusing on the ritual view displayed therein;Values are the core level.Through the symbol presentation in the series of documentaries of "One Upon a Bite",it mainly shows the values of family and country feelings.The third chapter mainly studies the motivation for the use of cross-cultural symbols in the series of documentaries of "One Upon a Bite",and explores the needs of the audience at different levels and the motivation for the creation team to use cross-cultural symbols from the perspective of the audience and the creation team.According to Mc Guire’s research on TV media in 1969,the audience’s needs are divided into four levels: mood transformation,interpersonal relationship,self-confirmation and environmental monitoring;From the perspective of the creative team,the study found that the use of cross-cultural symbols is to shorten the distance with the audience,reduce estrangement,and build a harmonious transmission and reception relationship,so as to better achieve the effect of cross-cultural communication.The fourth chapter analyzes the cross-cultural symbolic significance of the series of documentaries of "One Upon a Bite".Firstly,it uses the "octopus collector" to make word frequency statistics,grab the comments of youtube video website,and then uses NVivo software for coding analysis.Finally,it summarizes the cross-cultural symbolic significance from three angles: evoking common memory,reflecting cultural integration and building cultural identity.Finally,in the fifth chapter,this thesis explores the Enlightenment of the cross-cultural symbols of the documentary series of "One Upon a Bite".Firstly,it points out the shortcomings of the cross-cultural symbols of the documentary series of "One Upon a Bite",that is,the artistic expression of the symbols deviates from the reality and the lack of symbol marketing;Secondly,it puts forward Enlightenment on the construction of cross-cultural symbols in China’s food documentaries,so as to better open up a way for the development of China’s food documentaries. |
