Contemporary College Students’ Chinese Character Writing Ability Research

CCTV issued a show about the Chinese character writing——《Chinese dictation capitals》 in2013, launch has attractedwidespread attention, people of Chinese character writing abilityalso to cause the attention of people.Chinese characters writing isan art. It has accumulated thousands of years deep culturalheritage. With the development of Internet technology, thecomputers make our lives more convenient, however, it brings somenegative factors--relying on computers. In most cases, we enter theChinese characters with the keyboard when we use computers, andwith the virtual keyboard when we use mobile phones. As aconsequence of this, the capability of people to write Chinesecharacters is getting worse. The main reason for this phenomenonis the negative impact of network development. In order to improvestudents ability to write Chinese characters, I make a survey amongthe college students of the Shanxi Normal University to estimatetheir ability to write Chinese characters. In this article, I want tofind the problems through this survey, and to find the solutions, inorder to change the present situation reduced ability to writeChinese characters. This paper is divided into five parts:Part Ⅰ. It describes the origin,significance of the problem, and reviewed the relevant literature, but also illustrates the mainresearch methods.Part Ⅱ analyzes the results of Shanxi Normal UniversityStudents’ writing ability survey and identify existing problems. I putShanxi Normal University undergraduates students as the object ofthis investigation,for400students conducted a questionnairesurvey, and10students for the interview questions. By analyzingthe results of two surveys, I conclude there are some problems ofShanxi Normal University’ college students in terms of Chinesecharacters writing, such as, writing irregularities and highfrequency of typos, writing stroke order error and low stroke orderconcerns, accumulation of words insufficient, character amnesiaserious, network buzzwords use flooding, and so on.Part Ⅲ is to analyze the causes of Shanxi Normal Universitystudent ability in Chinese writing problems. Combined with the PartⅡ, I learned that there are four causes of contemporary collegestudents decreased ability to write Chinese characters. First, thestudents their own awareness and attention is not enough. Second,the exemplary of teachers is gradually decreased. Third, schoolmanagement system for writing Chinese characters still need toimprove. And the last, the Internet age greatly impact the Chinesewriting education.Part Ⅳ, the main substance is the importance of improvingcollege students’Chinese character writing ability. First of all, Imake a simple explanation about the Chinese writing education in ancient China. Secondly, I introduces the basic requirement of thehigher normal university students’ writing ability. On this basis, Ispecifically addressed four point importance to improve studentsability of Chinese characters writing. These four points are to helpstudents develop good study habits, help to play Chinese characterscommunicative function, helps future teaching work smoothly andhelp heritage of Chinese traditional culture.Part Ⅴ, the main substance is that basic strategies ofimproving the students’ ability of writing Chinese characters. In thissection, I analyze the significance of improving students’ ability towriting Chinese characters in the ’’Chinese Characters DictationCompetition’’ program. In the basic measures, I mainly put forwardfour methods: simulating students’ interest and motivation to writeChinese character; training the basic method to write Chinesecharacters for the students; strengthening university management;creating a good environment in the campus and viewing correctlythe influence of network on writing Chinese characters.
