Mr. Wang Yuping is an accordion veteran educator, performer and graduate student supervisor in China. He was admitted to the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in the 1950s. Currently a professor of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music Accordion Keyboard Department, he has been teaching in the Tianjin Conservatory of Music since 1961 when he graduated. He took the lead in introducing the accordion free bass accordion to China, which led domestic accordion playing and teaching into a new area. Accordion teaching and research over the years has made him accumulate a wealth of teaching and playing experience to become the leader of China’s most important areas of expertise accordion, leading Chinese accordion to the world.This paper chronologically can be divided into five parts. The introduction is an introduction of Mr. Wang Yuping. The first chapter talks about the relationship between Mr. Wang and accordion teaching before the refrom and opening-up policy, including the construction of teaching and teaching materials, creation and performance aspects of the music and Mr. Wang Yuping’s realization of the limitations of traditional accordion. The second chapter stresses Mr. Wang Yuping’s leading practice of Chinese accordion after the reform and opening-up policy. He introduced the "free bass" into China and is the first to include "free bass" in accordion teaching in China. He cultivated the first public school student majoring in accordion-Cao Xiaoqing, and the firs graduate Zhang Xiaobo. He attaches great importance to the teaching and chamber music ensemble, establishing accordion trio chamber music combinations-"Blackbird Trio". Chapter III talks about Mr. Wang Yuping’s leading Chinese accordion to the world. Under the leadership of Mr. Wang Yuping, the Tianjin Conservatory of Music Accordion formed a high level of professional teachers to cultivate many talents of accordion for the country. Today, more and more Chinese people standing on the international podium, Chinese accordion education has had a higher status in the world and had lived up to Mr. Wang’s great expectation to accordion practitioners. The conclusion summarizes the impact of Professor Wang Yuping on the development of Chinese accordion.
