With a profound historical and cultural heritage, Folk ritual ceremony is the derivative of traditional culture and concept, moreover, it has a positive significance for the life of the people. Through the analysis of Taoism ritual ceremony with banner performed by Taoist group in Mountain Area of Yulin City, the Southeast of Guangxi province, this article will reveal the roots and values on its existence. By the exploration of culture dominant force on belief, boost force on culture, and social psychological factors behind Zhushan ritual ceremony, this article will answer why people choose to believe in; through the reading of symbol and connotation implied in Zhushan ritual ceremony, to answer how we can do it; By observation and interview of the people involved in Zhushan ritual ceremony, to answer what is its social function and contemporary value.This paper is divided into eight parts. The first part is an introduction, which describes the background, purpose and significance of the research, research methods, and research status and deficiencies. The second part introduces the origin and belonging of ritual ceremony, its development in southeast of Guangxi province, and the characteristics after the Taoism is compatible with Buddha and Witchcraft. The third part introduces the general situation of ritual ceremony, including its name, meaning, nature, purpose, characteristics and the historical origin and evolution. and presents the essentials to perform ritual ceremony, including background conditions, procedures and operation mechanism. The fourth part gives an analysis on root of belief, including the Taoism belief, land worship and belief in Gods and Ghosts, what’s more, the notion of fate, the theory of Yin and Yang, the numerology, the pursuit of good fortune and an avoid of disaster for the blessings, all the aforementioned originate from culture, witchcraft and psychology. The fifth part brings a comprehensive introduction of Zhushan ritual ceremony, which includes the altar, an altar in five directions, Zhushan bridge, Fushou bridge, Shuiwan bridge and the arrangement of all these scenes, as well as the contents of ceremony instruments, procedure and content, and the ritual textbook.
