Chinese culture, broad and profound, which has a long history for thousands of years, is the most precious treasure in the history of civilization of the human being.In the wave of globalization, it is necessary demand to increase national cultural soft power and build a cultural power for Chinese culture go to the world. Transtralating Chinese culture is a very important link in the process of transmission.This report is concerned the translation of Chapter 4 "Research objects in Chineseculture"and Chapter7 "From multiple agitation to prosperity- the evolution trail of the Chinese culture in the rising period"of Chinese Culturology which was written by Qin Deqing and remains to be published.Guided by Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory, the author adopted relevant translation strategies according to analyse the important and difficult points in the translation progress. Firstly, the report introduced the background of this translation project, the source text involved traditional culture, national culture, Chinese culture and the content such as institution, literature, philosophy, religion. Language forms mainly are writings in the vernacular and classical Chinese. The project significance is to analyze and study how to disseminate culture. Secondly, the report describes the ready work before translation, mainly including text reading and analysis, parallel texts and teamwork. Based on the Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory, this translation pratice propose the relevant translation methods and strategies about the important and difficult points in the process of translation, such as culture-loaded words, idiom, Alignment of four words, long and difficult sentences in writings in the vernacular and translation in classical Chinese.Finally, according to this translation practice, the writer sum up experience and lessons, solidifying translation methods and skills. The writer realizes that translating a text with high quality should not only consult relevant parallel texts, but also amend and perfect the translated text. When doing the translation, the method is to transalte the paragraph and sections and chapters rather than the phrase or sentense as a unit, at the same time paying attention to coherence between the contexts. Furthermore, the writer think that as long as reading and leaning with persistence, especially reading a great number of original English books, the language level and translation quality will be improved practically.
