The Study Of The Scholars’ Images And The Creative Mind In The Colloquial Novels During Qianlong Dynasty

Qianlong Dynasty is regarded as the turning period of prosper to decaying in Chinese Feudal Society.Meanwhile, influenced by social and cultural atmosphere and the literary traditional,the colloquial novels which created independently by this period scholar were flourishing as never before. Lots of scholars as writers were engaged in the creation work. Besides, the novel features were not only about the writers` identity but the appealing of them. The writers took themselves into the works and regarded the works a tool as expressing emotion and desire even as showing their talent so that they made their works in that era special.This paper consists of three parts: Chapter one is about the analysis of the creation background in this period. It will refer to the rulers’ cultural policy, the special background and the change of the writers` identity in order to understand their living state and the traits of the works. The special living condition made these novels to be special,that means the promotion of the writers’ spirit made the works to express themselves.So the personal comparison is the common feature in the colloquial novels in Qianlong Dynasty.Chapter two is about the images of the Confucian scholars in the works. The standard of this classification is the attitude in the imperial competitive examination: gerund-grinder who is the one gets busy fame; the black sheep who are wandering in the examination; the losers in the examination who have the special pursue;the man of noble character who have no intention to the honor. These typical characters were time-marked, they were the one that shaped by writers from theirera.Chapter three is about the exploration of the pursue in creative writing, and their idea,desolation and sadness, criticize and reflection.Influenced by the traditional ancient writing, “being assiduous in creating works” was still an important writing purpose in Qianlong Dynasty.The writers expressed their heart by the characters, meanwhile,the ambition in the marality and justice that were required by the Confucian tradition aroused the writers’ critical spirit in the moralizing.
