The Research Of Homogeneity

Dong Brocade is particular traditional handicraft in the Dong minority. It serves the Dong people’s life and rooted in Dong social environment. In the history, Dong brocade developed national characteristics in craft, function and art. The biggest differences between Contemporary Dong Brocade and pre industrial era’ Dong brocade is commercialization. Commercialization has changed the face and character of the Dong brocade. So far, the author in the study found that Dong brocade has been reduced the meaning of traditional cultural, and became a commodity step by step. At the same time, the artistic style and function of Dong brocade has appeared the tendency of homogenization. In a sense, homogenization is harmful traditional handicraft. If we ignore the law of traditional handicrafts characteristics and manual mode of production, or we adopt the method does not fit the development pattern of Dong brocade, it would be lead to contemporary Dong brocade losing its authenticity and traits, and showing a homogeneous appearance gradually.This thesis based on the literature analysis and sorting data, takes the homogeneity as the breakthrough point. In the first place, we should depict peculiarity of Dong brocade by investigating Tongdao Dong brocade in Hunan province. Furthermore, it is crucial for us to find the reason of homogeneity from production mode and way of life. The last but not least, it is high time that we enhanced the awareness of notional identity and protected traditional handicraft from homogeneity. Only in this way can we build the harmonious development of traditional crafts and contemporary society.
