Research On The Historical Evolution Of Body Nouns As Classifier

One of the Chinese characteristics is the rich quantifier. Study on the evolution of the origin and development of Chinese quantifiers have certain value to enrich the Chinese quantifiers research and exploration of Chinese cognitive law. The essence of different quantifiers is the results of people observeing things from different angles. People look for the right weighing units, hoping they can get the user’s identity. Undoubtedly, that body part nouns is a suitable choice:each person’s body parts are similar in shape and size. As a measuring tool, body parts can get relative consensus, so it can be widely used.This paper selects "neck, head, small head, mouth, fist, face, finger, footer, waist, thigh, forehead, eyes, eyebrows, feet, teeth, hands" as research objects which have quantifier usage in ancient Chinese. According to the age of quantifier usage appearing, they were divided into ancient, medieval and modern period. The article depicts the body nouns quantifier usage. By using the theory of semantics, cognitive linguistics and related research results, the development and evolution of noun vector words are analyzed, and the characteristics and rules of development of Chinese quantifiers are explored.This paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter is the introduction.This part reviews the results of the study of quantifier, and introduces the research object and the research value of this paper, and the research methods of the thesis and the source of the data.The second chapter makes a detailed description of the phenomenon of body nouns as quantifiers. According to the time of the usage of quantifiers, it is divided into three sections:the ancient period, the middle period and the modern times respectively. The generation and evolution of the usage of the quantifier are described in detail.The third chapter is to analyze the body nouns as quantifiers. We ues the theory of semantics, cognitive linguistics and related research results to analysis this phenomenon.The fourth chapter is the conclusion. This part summarizes the evolution of body nouns as a measure word, and summarizes the cognitive characteristics of body nouns as classifier.
