Screen is a kind of ancient furniture, before the Ming and Qing dynasties, limited to scarcity of the real objects, we can only study the development of the screens from the paintings and literatures. This thesis collected the archaeological materials in the Song, Liao, Jin Dynasties, and take the fresco unearthed screens, stone screens, brick screens, as well as the real objects as the object of study, at last,the screen of Song, Liao and Jin were analyzed and discussed.In the Northern Song Dynasty, the screen is mostly in the form of the mural, which is concentrated in the Henan area. In the Southern Song Dynasty, the stone forms are distributed in Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou. The screen is concentrated in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Hebei in the Liao Dynasty. The screen is more concentrated in the Shanxi area in the Jin Dynasty.Due to the period of Song, Liao, Jin dynasty, the living style of people changed from sitting on the floor to the foot of a perpendicular, which brought the development of high type furniture, and the screen was always assigned with the combination of tables and chairs in the living room, while the number of the bedroom is decreased. In Song, Jin dynasties, there were most inserter screen, more pedestal screen, and less folding screens. The folding screen was the majority and other types were rare in the Liao Dynasty.The practicality of the screen is weakened, which is more used to reflect the identity and status. The function of admonition education from the screen is declined, but secular things become more in this period. The contents of decoration are landscape painting, flower and bird painting, calligraphy, geometric patterns and religious. The screen has obvious technological characteristics, such as the tenon structure compact, so the short transverse column structure strengthen the stability of the screen, the use of metal corners to stabilize and beautify the screen, what’s more the base of cloudy bridge style becomes the popular style of the screen in this period.Screen can help create a space and character relationship. The Han and Jin Dynasty feast graph by grand scenes, many of the guests, to display clear atmosphere, and the feast graph is in a private family feast, showing implicit meaning, reflecting class structure, the pursuit of social change. In seemingly equal Songjin couple sitting feast still shows the man dominated and the relationship between husband and wife and the maid and the screen is in order to highlight master status. The screen become the tools to reflect the defining theme, highlighting the aura.Screen background in dutiful son story, which reflecting the popular of Song and Jin Dynasty filial piety and people expect ancestors bless the descendants of social psychology. The bird on the screen and meticulous and freehand brushwork style coexist is the Mid Tang Dynasty and the five generation since the result of the development of painting. Screen reflects the cultural exchange between the Song and Jin. The Liao Dynasty because of the implementation of the customs and governance, it can accept the influence of the Chinese culture while maintaining national characteristics, the Chinese level is much larger than the Liao Dynasty, also confirmed in Jin Dynasty on the screen.
