On Properties Of Visual Communication Brought By Literal Symbols Of Chinese Jiaguwen

Jiaguwen, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, is the earliest characters with a comparatively integrated writing system ever found in China, considered to be the early form of modern Chinese characters as well as the most ancient and mature ones.It is the most precious data to study ancient China, especially social history, culture,language, and character.Based on the oracle inscriptions collected in Fushan Wangyirong Memorial, this selection of the topic expands to archaeological studies of oracle inscriptions,discovery and arrangement, trying to explore the possibilities of turning the vision of Jiaguwen into imaging effects as well as connecting Jiaguwen with current real life of the mass and further exploring the possibilities of designing products creatively.Chapter I illustrates the importance of studying Jiaguwen by analyzing the historical culture and relavant subjects according to what has been obtained from oracle inscriptions in view of the historical significance, the present situation and the value of the study of Jiaguwen.Chapter II analyzes the significance of the study of Jiaguwen and the current cultural environment, combined with the current study of Jiaguwen, which is pretty suggestive to the project.This topic centers on bringing art to life, regarding multiple integration as a way of design. The oracle inscription “ 福 ” is designed by means of graphical art, aiming to satisfy the needs of aesthetics and meanwhile not to lose the connotation of Jiaguwen. As a result, the purpose of cultural heritage and development can be achieved. It illustrates the current status quo of Jiaguwen in current life, and connects Jiaguwen characters with the current socialocultural environment,promoting its development and application in modern artistic life. Meanwhile, the anylisis of the emblem of the 2008 Beijng Olympics plus another ancient hierogliphics – Dongba Symbol, proves from another aspect that Jiaguwen can surely be connected with mass life after visual communication. Therefore, the possibilities that the study of Jiaguwen can be applied to the present is proved. As can be seen above, Jiaguwen can be connected with modern life by means of visual communication, thereby bringing Jiaguwen into life so that it can be inherited and further developed.Chapter III analyzes the possibilities of bringing Jiaguwen characters into life via pratical application. Eventualy, connect Jiaguwen with mass life by means of graphic designs, product designs, space designs and furniture designs.
