| This paper collects and counts all the modal particles exhaustively in Xiao’E, Chun’Ashi, Beijing, and through establishing a corpus to classify and sort these modal particles. By comparing with Hong Loumeng and the tale of heroes, then concludes the characteristics of modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels and the relationship with modern Chinese.This paper discusses 51 modal particles in early 20C’s Beijing Novels, through describing usage, carding development stage, and finally contrasting with Hong Loumeng and the tale of heroes to analyze all the modal particles, in order to conclude the newly created, the declining, even the extinction modal particles, also conclude the commonly used modal particles and the modal particles that change writing forms or not.Based on the description and analysis, we find the modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels are similar with the modern Chinese words. Mainly reflects in these aspects. The modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels have already possessed the common modal particles and the significance of the expression in modern Chinese; the rules of modal particles using together conform to the rules of modern Chinese; due to the syllable clusters, the syneresis modal particles have been come into being; the regularity of sound variation of "a" has already formed. In short, the modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels are in a transition phase, but can be attribute to the modern Chinese essentially.According to the above features, this paper does this research and discuss from three parts.The first part is an introduction to conclude the research findings in the past researches, and explain the relevant issues about this research.The second part is the main body of this paper, form paragraph 1 to 4. In this part, I will classify and describe all the modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels according to the mood, and summarize the frequency and the using method of eachmodal particle.The third part is the fifth chapter, from the macro-perspective, to analysis and summary the characteristics of modal particles of the early 20C’s Beijing Novels and its relationship with modern Chinese. |
