Zhouzhi dialect belongs to Zhongyuan offcial mandarin and the location of the guanzhong region is the capital city in the Xizhou dynasty, therefore, its dialect belongs to the basic dialect of Sylvia occupying an important position in the history of China. The guanzhong dialect has attracted much attention of many scholars, so has the Zhouzhi dialect. However, most research is focused on the statistic expressions of the dialect system and the research on the phonetic changes took place in Zhouzhi dialect are comparatively less.Taking Zhouzhi dialect’s young and old dialect pronunciation as the research topic, this paper aims to find the reasons why the new dialect pronounciation comes into being from the perspective of language contact and change. There are 5 chapters in this paper. First chapter is "introduction" in which the evolution of the dialect, research materials, the significance and value and research methodologies are discuss-ed. From the second to the fourth chapter, the detailed expression of the Zhouzhi dialect’s young and old dialect pronunciation is discussed in details on the basis of reliable field investigation and specific difference are highlighted between the young and old pronunciation. The fifth chapter is the "conclusion",which highlights the main research findings, and suggestions for the further study on the Zhouzhi dialect. It also underlines the shortcoming of this study.
