The Research On The Chinese Governance Of The Internet Public Opinion Crisis

Internet has infiltrated into people’s social life and become a powerful tool for information dissemination. Internet plays an important role in social change, people’s livelihood, expression of personal interest demands. A variety of convenient are provided by the internet for everyone, but also some problems are coming. Some information on the internet is virtual, concealment and randomness. Negative public opinion may be transformed into an internet public opinion crisis that could cause harm to society. Handled improperly, the government’s image and credibility will suffer damage, and even the governance ability could be affected. Therefore, the government must consider the consequences arising from the internet of public opinion and strengthen the supervision. Active measures should be taken to resolve the internet public opinion crisis and guide the internet public opinion toward healthy direction. The first chapter introduces the research background and significance, research ideas and methods, as well as innovation points. The second chapter introduces several relative concepts including the group polarization theory, the crisis life cycle theory, the good governance theory and the gatekeeper theory. In the third chapter, some specific cases are discussed to analyze the causes of internet public opinion crisis and its social impact; furthermore, the current situation and challenges faced is discussed. Chapter four summarizes the advanced experiences in practices about administration of the internet public opinion in some developed countries as the enlightenment. In the fifth chapter, some advices are proposed to deal with the government internet public opinion crisis. The Government, citizens and the other stakeholders should participate in the social governance together. several countermeasure could be taken, which include strengthening legislation of the internet, improving response mechanisms about the internet public opinion crisis, attaching great importance to IT security forces, improving the information disclosure system, bring up self-regulation system as well as the internet gatekeeper. In short, our government should attach great importance to the internet public opinion and actively respond to the internet public opinion crisis to build a harmonious internet society.
