Literary works reading is the major content in Chinese textbooks insecondary schools and also the main content of courses in Chinese teaching insecondary schools. According to the new curriculum standards, Chineseteaching in secondary schools should not only develop students’ ability to readclassic literatures, but foster and promote their humanistic quality andemotional attitudes and values. In Chinese teaching practice in secondaryschools, it usually happens that the students tend to have difficulties incomprehending literary works and there are various reasons, an important oneof which is the comprehension deviation caused by cognitive distance.Fundamentally, cognitive distance causes comprehension deviation because oflow resolution of cold medium represented by characters in Chinese textbooksand the unique psychological traits of secondary school students. For thesereasons, it will be a growing trend in Chinese teaching research in secondaryschools to analyze how should Chinese teachers in secondary schools choosethe reasonable medium in order to cater to the students’ psychological featuresand to trigger their learning interest, and how should they adopt cold mediumand hot medium combination in mass communication in order to shorten thecognitive distance between secondary school students and Chinese textbooks.This thesis discusses about how to bring communication methods in masscommunication such as media convergence and interaction across the screento Chinese teaching in secondary schools and analyzes how should Chineseteachers in secondary schools add the use of hot medium to the use of coldmedium in order to shorten the cognitive distance between secondary schoolstudents and printed Chinese textbooks, to arouse their enthusiasm andinitiative in mind participate, and to promote their Chinese quality, readingcomprehension ability and literary aesthetics ability. By analyzing teachingrecords in teaching practice, this thesis digs into how to choose the reasonablemedium to enhance students’ awareness participation and mind participationand ultimately to promote their reading comprehension ability.
