Reserch On The Voluntary Service Mechn Ism Of Environmental Communities In Universities

Government and market are two main bodies in environmental protection andgovernance. However, the public nature of environmental goods has led to thephenomenon of failing operation in government and market. At this moment, NGO forenvironmental protection arises in time and plays an increasingly important role inenvironmental protection. Environmental protection communities in universities, as mainbody of environmental protection NGO, are important carrier for college studentsprotecting ecology and spreading ecological culture. So the research subject whichscholars will increasingly concerned about is that how to improve the voluntary servicemechanism of Environmental protection communities in universities and develop theirenvironmental protection potential to undertake more important responsibilities inenvironmental protection.This paper studies the voluntary service mechanism of environmental protectioncommunities in universities through the method of literature research, comparativeanalysis, social investigation and so on. It analyses the present situation of voluntaryservice mechanism of environmental protection communities in universities and theproblems appearing in operation specifically with environmental NGO development indexsystem based on its voluntary service reality. Environmental protection community inuniversity is neither government with executive orders nor enterprise with interests. Onlythe sound voluntary service mechanism and the public credibility enhanced from the twolevels of system and culture can play a more important role in the field of environmentalprotection. This mechanism includes: improving the external environment securitymechanism of voluntary service of environmental protection communities in universities;intensifying the internal system construction within communities to broaden voluntaryservice field and improve organizational mechanism; fostering voluntary spirit andecological culture, maintaining sound service image to form public credibility andconstruct diversified dynamic mechanism.Based on the advantage of its status, the universality of its members and the advanceof its thoughts, environmental community in universities, as a new power in constructing beautiful China, has appealing ability to guide public actively participating inenvironmental protection and fills the absence of government and market in environmentalgovernance.
