Muscle strength is the ability to overcome or resistance against humannerve muscle system, which is the power source at random to complete a varietyof actions. In competitive sports, it is one of the physical factors that decide themovement result and improving athletic performance. Isokinetic concept wasput forward firstly by Hislop and Perrine in the60’s of the last century, referingto the use of special equipment (isokinetic testing instrument),correspondingadjustment according to the changes of external resistance force of the jointmotion process, according to the preset angle velocity. Subsequently, the UnitedStates CYBEX company produced the first isokinetic testing and training system.Since the invention, application of isokinetic muscle strength testing instrumentis mainly reflected in the following aspects: Joint isokinetic muscle strength testand evaluation on different groups of people, through the relevant indicators toevaluate the equilibrium constant of the measured joint muscle strength leveland diagnosis of antagonistic muscle strength of the joint; injury patients withjoint operation after rehabilitation training; improve the athlete knee musclestrength. Compared with the traditional muscle strength measuring instruments, isokinetic instrument can be adjusted according to the change of externalresistance force of the joint in the process of movement, so that the who le jointaccording to the preset angle velocity, the most notable characteristics ofisokinetic motion speed is relatively stable, will not produce explosive movement, and in the course of the campaign and the resistance is proportionalto muscle movement, in the whole process of any point muscle can producemaximum power, safety and good test-retest reliability. So far, the application ofisokinetic muscle strength testing instrument for nearly forty years, with theisokinetic muscle strength testing instrument in muscle strength testing, peoplestudy the isokinetic muscle strength testing instrument used in the human bodyjoint muscle strength assessment and diagnosis show ascendant trend. However, the existing research literature of isokinetic muscle strength will find that thereare some obvious problems. For example, the different of elbow flexor andextensor isokinetic muscle strength group conclusion; different on the same jointisokinetic muscle strength test results of different body size measured; repeattests on different speed reliability index adopts the same quality of musclestrength isokinetic test of body gravity; on isokinetic correction before testing;constant velocity joint to repeat the test reliability test research on severalproblems; muscle strength isokinetic problems at home and abroad. At present, the above-mentioned problems haven’t seen relevant experiments reported in theliterature. Isokinetic muscle test machine has been widely applied in the test andevaluating of muscle strength, rehabilitative strength training and enhancingmuscle strength. This paper discussed some questions, such as differentisokinetic index reflected similar muscle ability, scientific basis of isokineticindex forecasted muscle sport injury, the impacts of different testing position onthe isokinetic results. This paper also suggested that correlation analysis shouldbe made between different isokinetic index reflecting similar muscle ability andsimilar muscle ability in order to make sure the best isokinetic index reflectingmuscle ability; much experiment should be made to make sure whether theratios of antagonistic muscle peak torque is the proper factor in forecasting thebalance between antagonistic muscle strength and evaluating functionalrehabilitation of joint; study on the reliability of ratios of antagonistic musclepeak torque should be made time after time.
