In worldwide scale now, more than one million students studying in foreign countries, this figure also maintains a growing trend. In the past, students from developing countries go to developed countries to study is the major tendency, but in recent years, the number of students from developed countries who go to developing countries for further education is constantly increasing.More and more occident students are coming to study in China. And these students with different cultural backgrounds definitely have a feeling of "misfit" and "learning"-as one of the main tasks of the occident students, will it be affected by cross-cultural adaptation problems, what is the connection between them, it there any possibilities that we can make some improvements according to the situation. All these questions have already become an "urgent-proved" problem.There have already been many achievements in cross-cultural adaptation research, but all these researches are Western countries information based. This study mainly focuses on the connections between cross-cultural adaptation and Study effect of the occident students. The researcher tries to find the elements which affect the acculturation degree and also trying to give some suggestions which may improve the study effect of American and European students.In addition, all the current research about study effect are classified as the second language acquisition problems, and all these researches mentioned above strives from individual psychology and affective factors from cross-cultural adaptation. Although these achievements are worth using for reference, they are still not representative and persuasive.This research takes the occident students in Nanjing University as object of study. Based on these problems, researcher conforms to integrate Trans-cultural psychology, Educational sociology and Intercultural communication. And the writer also gives batch questionnaire survey and Language Testing to make the final research result more objective and accurate.Research in both fields like this is not common. In limited sense, this study can discover the connection between cross - cultural adaptation and Study effect of the occident students so as to attract more occident students overseas. In a broad sense, this study has some references, meanwhile also promote cooperation between the two countries.
