Fairy tale, as one of the most important genre of children’s literature, with its vivid language, gorgeous imagination and the spirit of game, much loved by children and educators. "Full time compulsory education Chinese curriculum standard (experimental draft)" and the revised draft take the fairy tale as the preferred stylistic of reading learning in the first stage.Therefore, people increasingly to research into the primary school language teaching in the fairy tale, from different perspectives.On the basis of previous studies, this paper pays close attention to the selection of Chinese fairy tales and the reading psychology of children, for the study of primary school Chinese textbook selection of fairy tales and its teaching status. So as to give the corresponding suggestions. This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the significance of the topic and research summary, mainly expounds the research status of fairy tales and its textbook selection; The second part starts from the noumenon of fairy tales, expounds the aesthetic, educational, game and other artistic features of fairy tales as well as its significance to Chinese teaching and children; In the third part, taking the new curriculum PEP (experimental edition of 2001) primary school language teaching materials in the fairy tale texts as the research object, combined with before the new curriculum reform in primary school language textbooks (1993 edition) and the Jiangsu Education version, the Beijing Normal University version of the textbook after the new curriculum reform, analyzes the characteristics of the current fairy tales selection besides its problems,according to the artistic characteristics of fairy tales. The fourth part according to the problems and deficiencies in the third chapter, puts forward the corresponding suggestions to the fairy tale of the current Chinese teaching material of the people’s education. from the perspective of teaching.Hoping that this study would lead the primary school Chinese textbook editors and Chinese teachers in primary schools to a more scientific and rational rethinking toward the textbook selection of fairy tales, which is an important genre of children’s literature, as well as providing some suggestions for the teaching of fairy tales in primary school Chinese textbook.
