Our country is prone to geological disasters including a plenty of geological disasters which are widely distributed and caused great damage. These factors restrict the economic development of disaster-prone areas seriously and also threaten people's lives and property. The main characteristics of geological disasters are sudden, multiple, mass. Geological disasters cause mankind devastating, so it is particularly prominent in natural disasters.Ping chang is located in the southeast of Ba zhong mountainous territory. Due to the prominent topography, complicated geological structure, poor geological conditions, geological disasters such as landslides, avalanches and other influence, geological disasters happened frequently in this area. "9.16 storm and flood" caused serious economic losses to Ping chang and made Ping chang geological disasters worse, and it also produced a series of secondary geological disasters and risks.And the original geological disaster has exacerbated the danger, the situation is more severe which has been caused damage to the local people's lives and property. Therefore, the zoning of Ping chang geological disasters has a certain practical significance.Based on the preliminary field reconnaissance surveys of Ping chang and a number of local meteorological and hydrological data, we analyzed geological hazards characteristics and formation conditions in this area. Using 3S and related technologies and combined with analytic hierarchy process method, we accomplish the Ping chang geological hazard assessment. Results are as follows:(1)We use a lucid method to asset Ping Chang County geological disaster risk evaluation system through the progress of field survey-data collection-data analysis-model evaluation-conclusion- result analysis.(2)We get the evaluation of geological hazards based on the local-investigation of the occurred geological disasters and the identification of its distribution, scale, structural characteristics and predisposing factors.(3)We choose topography, geological structure, surface water, precipitation as evaluation factors of Ping chang geological hazard based on analysis of the forming conditions of geological disasters, And we use AHP to weight each factor by using of corresponding evaluation model, and finally combine spatial overlay analysis of GIS software to get Ping chang geological hazard-prone zone map;(4)In accordance with principles, methods and requirements of division, we give prevention measures of every recommendations region;According to the analysis of geological hazards evaluation, local conditions to build a scientific and reasonable system and control measures to minimize economic harm and loss. which caused by geological disasters, to provide a scientific basis to geological disaster prevention planing.
