Study On Traditional Botanical Knowledge Of The Mongolian's In Urad Middle Banner,Inner Mongolia

Urad Middle Banner is one of banners concentrated living.In the long term,the local Mongo lian has accumulated trad itional knowledge of botany during the production activities.However,the study on traditional botanical knowledge in Urad Middle Banner has not yet been done.The traditional knowledge have experienced hundred years of herding economic activities and test of practice directing the traditional herding production and management for herders.Therefore,this kind of knowledge and experience provided the clues and evidences based on folk using the practice for developing the sorting of scientific research,utilization and protection of plant resources.As time goes by,traditional knowledge is disappearing day by day.So it is much important to survey and research these knowledge and experiences.The artic le studied the character of plant naming and the conventional use of wild plants in Urad Middle Banner by the methods of the ethno-botanical literature research,specimen identification evidenc e and key informant interviews.The result shows that: 1.In terms of plant name,local Mongolians for naming plants have special structures,types and evidences.It is enough related to their production and living way.There are 93 fo lk wild plants names,corresponding with 72 species 1 variety,belonging to 25 families 58 genera.2.The wild plants used by the local Mongo lians inc lude 4 ways: ed ible use,medicinal use,feeding use and cultural use.The local trad itional wild edible plants have 6 species,belonging to 5 families 5 genera.There are 3 types including wild ed ible plants,vegetab le p lants and wild condiments;There are 20 species of medicinal plants used by local herdsmen,belonging to 11 families 18 genera,which are divided into 2 types: medicinal plant and veterinary used plants.There are 65 species local forage plants,belonging to 21 families 52 genera.Local Mongolians mainly conducted the herding life.Therefore,they have own unique way of evaluation.The higher evaluation of forage plants have 37 species;culture plants have 26 species,belonging to 17 family 25 genera,which involves religious faith,folk literature,traditional custom etc.3.Compared with other areas,wild plants used in the Urad Middle Banner and Ejina Banner have the similarity of 13.73%,11.40%,10.56% in their families,genera and species.Wild plants used in the Urad Middle Banner and Horqin Right have the similarity of 18.18%,11.24%,9.85% in their families,genera and species.The folk p lant knowledge of Mongo lians in Urad Middle Banner has experienced long-time herd ing experience inc lud ing the protection of the nature and the meaning of reasonable using.It also has a great value for using,inheriting and protecting.
