Chinese shale oil exploration and development is still in its infancy.The exploration and development has been carried out in some continental petroliferous basins,especif-ically in Dongpu depression.The paper based on the detailed drilling,recording,measuring,test data object on the northern part of the Dongpu depression,and make research on the gathered conditions of shale oil,oil rates calculation method and distribution prediction,mainly achieve the following understanding.Dongpu depression is a graben rifed depression with north-north-east trending,its structural style is controlled by the fault on the whole,and the structure show the“a two-lying Ryuichi steep a slope”feature.The extensive development of rock salt is the biggest feature that differs from other continental depression.The depth of the shale formation in the northern part of the Dongpu depression is moderate,and range from 500 meters to 4500 meters.it has the larger rock thickness,range from three hundred and fifty meters to five hundred meters.The major type of the organic matter is type II,including some amount of the type I,and small amount of the type?.Meanwhile it has the abundance of organic matter,it mostly ranges from 0.5%-1.2%,Chloroform bitumen A mostly ranges from 0.02%to 0.1%,(S1+S2)mostly ranges from 2mg/g to 5mg/g.It also has moderate thermal evolution mostly ranges from 0.9%to 1.2%.The hydrocarbon generation capacity of the saline area is high than the areas without salt.The main pore space of the shale of the objected formation on the interest region is crack,the development of pore is poor,and mainly is the secondary dissolution pores.In the salt area and the place where it has the high lime content,the cracks develop well,as well corrosion pores mainly develop in areas with high levels of lime.The organic pores develop poor.The oil rate of the objected formation in the northern part of the baisn obtained by the chloroform bitumen "A" light hydrocarbon recovery act and pyrolysis "S1"heavy hydrocarbons recovery act is more than 0.2%,and it has the industrial exploitation.Combined with TOC,Ro and salinity,oil distribution were predicted.The sub-middle of the third member of Shahejie Formation has the highest oil content,the optimal area is the Pucheng area;the second one is the sub-top of the third member of Shahejie Formation,the optimal area is the Xichengji area;the oil rate of the sub-low of the third member of Shahejie Formation is relatively low.The impact of the lime of the shale formation in the third member of Shahejie Formation in the northern part of the Dongpu depression on the shale crack also has a guiding role on the other sag in Bohai Bay Basin.
