Airtight blast door, as the critical component of underground coal-mine emergency safety system, requires high quality. Topology and shape optimization which are the most widespread CAE technology were seldom applied in the structure design of products in our country though they were proposed early.In tins paper, based on the airtight blast door for mining which is designed by one company, and the numerical simulation demands in "Specifications for coal mine mobile refuge chambers", the maximal Blast-load suffered by the surface of airtight blast door is 0.6MPa, and the actuation duration is 300ms. Under this working condition, this article employs software ANSYS/LS-DYNA to simulate the blast-resistant properties.The strength, stiffness, airtightness and thermal conductivity are analyzed in this paper. Because the blast-resistant properties of the original designed structure can't meet the standard demand, the structure should be optimized to improve the performance index. The paper uses two optimizing ways to improve the original structure, and which are as below:(1) The optimal structure design based on traditional experience(2) The optimal structure design based on CAE optimization.The above two structural designs result in two airtight blast doors in different structures. By comparison of the structure and numerical simulation of the two different designed airtight blast doors, the results can be obtained:(1) The two airtight blast doors based on different optimal structure designs possess needed blast-resistant properties and safe product quality.(2) Compared with the airtight blast door based on traditional experience, the weight of the airtight blast door based on CAE optimization is decreased 14%, and the costs are greatly reduced.Two conclusions can be gotten:(1) The widely used of CAE optimization can speed the transformation of domestic products of reverse design and development to original design and development, in addition, the processes and results are efficient and accurate.(2) The typical optimization method and the example presented in this paper are useful for the original development and optimization design in other products.
