With the continuous development and progress of science and technology, automation of tobacco packaging equipment was constantly improved and mechanical structure became more and more complex, which brought about the equipment 's fault factors to increase. At the same time, the diagnosis and treatment turned into complicated projects, which resulted from some faults caused by coupling factors. It had great limitations to recognize and r epair the fault only depended on the past experience of maintenance personnel. Every new employee took several years for the accumulation of experience, which ma de a huge waste for the tobacco enterprise. And blind disassembly based on the improper judgment might damage the equipment and caused a greater loss. Combined with the tobacco machinery industry in the future of automation, intelligent and digital development trend, this article designed a fault diagnosis expert system for tobacco packing unit, which depended on case-based reasoning and maintainability theory. Meanwhile, this article put forward the solution of the key technology, and applied the fault tree analysis technology into the database index. Used deductive reasoning method, fault diagnosis system realized the rapid diagnosis of tobacco packaging equipment.This article focused on the study of packing unit fault diagnosis, according to the fact of tobacco enterprise possessed of large amounts of fault diagnosis data, further researched and applied fault diagnosis technology, which based on case-based reasoning. In order to solve the knowledge bottleneck problem of case-based reasoning technology, innovatively introduced the maintainability theory into the fault diagnosis field. T he evaluation model and method of maintainability was established for the fault diagnosis of packaging unit with the related national standard and military standard. Under the premise of ensuring the diagnosis qual ity, sped up retrieval of the fault diagnosis. By use of the fault tree analysis theory, multi-level structure of fault tree was built for solving the problems of complex location, various fault types and difficult retrieval, in order to realize the rapid analysis and accurate judgment on fault diagnosis as expected.Finally, the fault diagnosis expert system, which was developed for the management and maintenance personnel of tobacco enterprise, used Visual Studio and Microsoft Access as the system development tool, for ensuring that comprehensive security of tobacco packing unit from the aspects of the design, processing, maintenance.This article provides a new idea for the fault diagnosis research of domestic tobacco machinery enterprises, which has a certain reference value for the follow-up study of fault diagnosis in tobacco industry.
