With the development of economic globalization, market competition has evolved from past local competition to current global competition. The CNC machine tools industry of our country is facing huge challenge, and must improve quality and performance of machine tool products, reduce the production cost, shorten the design and manufacturing cycle to improve innovation ability of complex product and equipments and rapidly response to market changes by adopting advanced design methods in order to keep competitive power in the global market. Modular design is one of the necessary measures to satisfy the diversification of customer needs, lower cost, short cycle of design, production and maintenance, CNC machine tools is the key basic equipment of manufacturing industry, and the carrier of advanced manufacturing technology. Therefore it has important theoretical and practical significance that using modular design method in the design and production of the CNC machine tools. The main contents of this thesis are outlined as follows:(1) Through analyzing existing module partition methods, this thesis put forward a module partition method oriented on the customers. After getting the customer requirements, fuzzy matrix was the established on the basis of customer demand for HTC2550 series CNC machine tool, the fuzzy matrix was clustered by fuzzy clustering method, and the module partition was realized.(2) On the basis of module partition, the modeling theory of CNC machine tool was studied in detail. This thesis confirmed module coding rules of CNC machine tools, and built the module data library at the same time, which simplified the management of modules information. Through analyzing the existing module configuration methods, this thesis proposed a modular configuration design method based on CBR for CNC machine tools, which it used the similarity calculation to carry out retrieval of product cases, and realized module configuration based on CBR.(3) On the basis of module configuration, the evaluation method of module configuration scheme was studied. The thesis used fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to realize the evaluation for cases, and chosen the best match instance with user demand.(4) Based on the theory of module partition, module coding, database management, module configuration and module evaluation, this thesis developed the modular design system of CNC machine tools by using MATLAB/GUI. And the running example of the system was also given.This thesis mainly carried out the research on module partition, module coding, module configuration and configuration evaluation for HTC series CNC machine tools, and developed the modular design system based on above theory, and provided certain theoretical basis for the modular design for CNC machine tools.
