One mine produces sulfur tailings which have lead,zinc and sulfur about 600 thousand tons every year,therefore it is valueable and necessary to recycle them.Process mineralogy research shows that the recoverable elements are lead,zinc,and sulfur that the content of them is 0.63%,0.54% and 9.10% respectively.The content of lead,zinc,sulfur in the form of sulfide is 53.97%,70.37%,91.32% respectively.Useful minerals are mainly pyrite,sphalerite and galena and the monomer dissociation degree is 37.39%,23.11%,66.55% respectively.The undissociated useful minerals are symbiotic close with the gangue minerals.The component of gangue minerals are mainly SiO2,CaO,Al2O3 and the total content of them is 53.15%.From the aspect of the element content and the monomer dissociation degree and the distribution rate of the element in the sulfide,sulfur is more likely to be recycled than lead and zinc.In order to recover the sulfur concentrate from sulfur tailings,the two methods of gravity separation and flotation is compared.The spiral chute beneficiation and tabling are used and the concentrate with sulfur grade of 19.13% and recovery 41.94% is gained.The flotation concentrate with sulfur grade of 25.08% and recovery 78.52% is gained in the flotation namely roughing.The sulfur grade and recovery of flotation concentrate is better than that of gravity concentrate.Therefore,the sulfur tailings are taking flotation and the rougher concentrate and rougher tailings are gained.In order to improve the sulfur grade,the rougher concentrate is given grinding-two cleaning-one scavenging and the concentrate with sulfur grade of 42.58% and recovery 48.75% is gained.Then the industrial test plan is put forward.More than 65% of the lead and zinc remained in the rougher tailing after roughing.To recycle this part of lead and zinc,the rougher tailings are given classifying-sand grinding-three cleaning and the lead-zinc concentrate with lead-zinc grade of 7.94% and recovery 13.33% is gained.
