Ethylene oxide production process is long and complex, which parameter conditions change frequently. Because of the production of raw materials and products are flammable, combustible and there is high temperature and high pressure in the main stream. So, it is prone to failure and lead to explosion, fire and other dangerous during the operation of ethylene oxide production equipment. Once an accident occurs, the damage to personnel and equipment is great. Based on the request of ethylene oxide production process and equipment characteristics, come up with a kind of dual redundant emergency shutdown system by S7-300 PLC for ensure the stability and safety of the emergency situation. The main work content are as follows:(1)Understanding of the definition, composition, characteristics, development, commonly used indicators of the emergency shutdown device.(2)This paper introduces the technological process of ethylene oxide, analyzes process parameter conditions and related control requirements.(3)According to this process, I design the core elements interlocking logic of the ESD and gives the overall design of the system.(4)Design hardware, selection and configuration of ethylene oxide production ESD. It includes statistics of I/O points, establishment of the CPU type, select the number of modules required, design and selection of field instrument, connection design between hardware and hardware configuration.(5)Communication configuration and simulation of ethylene oxide production emergency shutdown device.(6)The Man-machine interface of monitoring was designed by WinCC configuration software and realize real-time monitoring for process parameters.
