Coal is an important energy industry in our country. With the development of mining enterprises, the issues in coal mine safety are also increasingly prominent, especially the underground gas concentration problems, has been an important topic of research staff. As an essential safety device, mine gas monitoring system is applied to various kinds of underground environment. For today’s small and medium-sized coal, it is necessary that design a set of economic and practical and also can meet the gas monitoring system of production safety requirements.Coal mine gas concentration monitoring system set up in the paper, the underground part is controlled by PLC, information transmission data sensors to collect downhole control substation, analyzes the data in the substation, and executed by the PLC related procedures, thus completing the effective control of each equipment; Inoue in part by the configuration software to create the monitoring picture, realize the real-time monitoring of gas concentration, the PC can display the current data, can also be used for querying historical data and print the required content.Wavelet and BP neural network algorithm for gas concentration prediction is an important part of this paper. The algorithm uses wavelet analysis of noise filtering ability strong, for noise filtering processing site gas data based on time series, neural network application in prediction valuation advantages, using the denoised data to train the BP neural network, and then use the latest field data into the trained neural network to forecast obtained after, prediction results. Compared to the traditional monitoring system, the system to improve the measurement accuracy, reduce equipment loss and adjustment period, has certain research value and application value.This paper first describes the background of the gas monitoring system, analyzes its development trend and refers to some unsolved problems which exist in present stage in coal mine gas monitoring. Then based on describing the overall structure and working principle of the system, the selection of the hardware equipment of the system, analyzes the main modules of PLC, designed the communication mode of the whole system, and focuses on the application of wavelet and BP neural network algorithm to predict the gas concentration, using MATLAB software to establish the simulation model for simulation. Finally the use of Kingview software to establish the monitoring picture, realize the real-time monitoring of underground gas concentration. After verification, has feasibility of monitoring of gas concentration system designed in this paper, to meet the corresponding requirements of coal mine safety production.
