| Along with the development of economy and the improvement of living standards, people are attaching much more importance to health, leading to the popularity of fitness equipment (one of the effective tools for physical exercise) among consumers. Cycle ergometer as a safe and reliable fitness equipment is being increasingly widely into people’s lives. However, traditional cycle ergometer’s single function and the system is not complete with motion adaptive damping adjustment problems when conventional power train vehicles constant power mode.Traditional cycle ergometer exists single function, and in this paper, based on the current market intelligent indoor fitness equipment needs and the shortage of the traditional cycle ergometer, a new-type intelligent cycle ergometer system is developed, which overcomes the defects in the current ones. In addition to those advantages like small footprint, integration of bodybuilding and fun, and friendly man-machine interface, such a full-featured system makes it easier for exercisers to take exercise in a constant-power mode. Consequently, it accords with the requirement of oxygen-bodybuilding in families, gyms, and other indoor places. This paper mainly includes:1. Optimization of the entire machine’s mechanical structure. From the structural reliability, dynamic performance and handling, selecting material, optimize organization layout, etc., applied ergonomics principle to design accord with human body form of power structure model, and experimental demonstration and implementation.2. Intelligent cycle ergometer system hardware design and implementation. The whole hardware circuit contains pedal speed signal acquisition unit, pedal pressure measuring unit, data processing unit, excitation and load control unit, communication (wire & wireless) unit, and measuring unit of the generator’s output frequency as well as of its output voltage & current.3. Constant power control software system development. Design of friendly man-machine interface, which PC software and lower computer software through a certain protocol data communication, to achieve a good human-computer interaction, and test data are stored in the computer.4. Construction of constant power training model. After setting the desired constant power value, the system resistance through the feedforward PID algorithm for real-time adjustment system, so the trainer has to reach and maintain a constant power value in the course of the campaign, in order to achieve a constant power training mode.The main innovation points of this paper are:1. By step type transmission mechanism of ergonomic design to realize safe, reliable way of movement. As long as the structure of the traditional ergometer cycle is concerned, the cycle usually runs around in a circular motion via the crank which is unable to work at the up & down break point of the circumference. Moreover, the real active component near the up & down break point is so small that it is actually doing idle work. In real life, people are habituated to stop exerting their strength at the up break point when cycling; instead, they just wait and put forth suddenly when they pass the up break point. Since they are doing work with what is similar to explosive force, it does a lot of harm to their joints.Based on the situation above, the new-type system has changed the original circular motion via the crank into up & down pedal movement. According to experimental results, exerting evenly is more conducive to helping exercisers give full play to their power potential, thus consuming their body fat quickly.2. Implement a constant power training through active Excitation smart regulation mode. With the adoption of PWM principal, the new-type ergometer cycle could alter the resistance immediately by adjusting the generator’s exciting current and output load. According to the changes in human body’s power and heart rate, a constant-torque training mode is implemented by adjusting the constant resistance to different magnitudes. On account of the changes in human body’s heart rate, the real constant-power training mode is finally implemented by adjusting the power as well as the resistance in real time to reach the fixed value of constant power. This accomplishment provides not only technical basis for the subsequent simulation of various game scenes, but also an excellent platform for future cardiopulmonary endurance test. |
