Design And Development Of Pulse Generator For WEDM Based On FreeRTOS Operating System

As an important part of WEDM(Wire Cut Electrical Discharge Machining)machine,pulse generator is one of the main factors which influence the energy consumption and machining process of a WEDM system.After analyzing the existing pulse generator of the WEDM machine of the partner corporation,the result shows there is a huge room for development in automatic aspect and energy consumption.The recent research on the embedded solution of pulse generator in oversea and domestic are generally analyzed,basing on the reading to the related Chinese and foreign literature.Aiming at the improvement of the efficiency and automatic level of the pulse generator for the WEDM machine,a new type of energy-saving and cost-effective pulse generator basing on advanced ARM-core chip and embedded real-time system technique for WEDM is designed.There are three new features of this design.Firstly,the software design is based on the high-performance embedded real-time system Free RTOS,which guarantees the balance between the diversity of functions and the real-time performance.Secondly,use the high performance peripheral of ARM-core chip to build the new solution of pulse generation,which provide the pulse generator with high controllability,efficiency and performance.Thirdly,the import of even current distribution technique improves the service life of pulse generator.Using the prototype of the energy-saving pulse generator based on high-performance embedded real-time system,the machining process experiments are carried out on the WEDM machine,then the processing waveform and machining status is analyzed.The effect of energy-saving can be obviously observed and the machining result is nice.The machining function preferably finished and the feasibility of the energy-saving pulse generator based on the embedded real-time system is confirmed.
