In modern society, the level of processing efficiency and machining accuracy is getting higher, with this background, linear rolling guide is more and more widely used because of its advantages such as high carrying capacity and precision and wear-resistance.How to guarantee a stable brake while operating platform is moving in a high speed in order to enhance processing efficiency is becoming a new problem to be solved. Braking time and distance affects machining accuracy, keeping operating platform at a specific location without shifting on the guide while operating at fixed working position determines processing quality. In order to solve the problems of linear rolling guide braking, in recent years, developed countries such as Japan and Germany install additional clamping devices beside sliders, which enhances the braking efficiency and stability of linear rolling guide. However, correlation studies in China is still in start stage. Related products mainly depend on import. Therefore, the researching and exploring of clamping devices is of vital importance.There are various kinds of clamping devices at present on the market, classified by the status without driving forces, there are two kinds of clamping devices, normal-closed and normal-open. This paper raises the necessity of researching a new kind of clamping device which is able to switch between normal-open mode and normal-closed mode, by analyzing the common points and differences in structure and function between two kinds of clamping devices, then designs and analyzes its structure. Analyzing problem by using TRIZ theory, solving conflicts in creative designing, choosing new reinforcement mechanism to improve the performance of clamping devices through analyzing characteristics of common reinforcement mechanism. Designs an easy and fast mode switching process based on Metamorphic Mechanism Theory, realizing stable work status in these two modes.Carries out parameter design of reinforcement mechanism, loading spring and loading piston according to the requirement of holding force, and examine whether the new device could meet the expectations. Examine holding force and reacting time by dynamics simulation using ADAMS.
