Floods is one of the most frequent and vast infulenced disasters in today’s world. It lists on the top of all disasters in terms of frequency, the number of affected population and direct economic losts.PoYang lake, located in the lakeside of The Eco-econmic Zone of PoYang Lake, palys the role as the "granary" in this region. With two most developed cities,Nanchang and Jiujiang, being as the core developing points,as well as advanced transportation, this zone has occupied a relatively large part of the social and economic status in Jiangxi Province. However, owing to the frequent floods, the development of the entire Po Yang lake Zone has been seriously impeded. As the smallest suffering unit, famers bear great threats and impacts caused by floods.Current theoretical research on disaster-forming environment and disaster-causing factors is mainly focused on the recognition and analysis of its happening priciples and reasons, which is not enough to ultimately reduce the occurring of floods. Therefore, present research on the vulnerability of Hazard-bearing Bodies is of extreme importance,it provides more efficient instructions to those suffered famers for pre-disaster precautions and after-disaster recoveries,by applying scientific and reasonable sustainable livelihoods strategy,it is hopeful that the vulnerability index will be dramatically decreased. This essay relies on the latest research progress from both sides of the border, based on the summery of relative theories on vulnerability and sustainable livelihoods, starts from a micro perspective of farmers, combining Analytic Hierarchy Process and Entropy Metod to Determine the Weight, using Multi-Factor Weighting Comprehensive assessment, taking Yong Xiu County in Po Yang Lake Zone as an example case,to conduct empirical study on the vulnerability of famers during floods.Meanwhile,by connecting the idea of sustainable livelihoods, this essay puts forward measures of disaster alleviation to reduce vulnerability index.Main conclusions of this essay are as follows:(1)Among 697 investigated farmers’ families, the minimum vulnerability index is 0.2816,the maximum vulnerability index is 1.1686,the average vulnerability index is 0.5951,the vulnerability index of individual farmer’s family in Yong Xiu County is in middle-high level, and difference among famers is significant.(2)The floods vulnerability index of famers in study zone is in middle-high level, the overall floods vulnerability index is 0.6073.The biggest influential factor to the floods vulnerability index is the political participation, the second one is nonagricultural inome proportion and the third one is the family social network.(3)The high floods vulnerability index in the study zone appears in the lakeside area of the county,it is the most affected area by floods, and the economy is relatively less developed.High and middle value are mainly spreaded on those villages and towns that are located near rivers or lakes, among which are often distributed in the marginal areas of the study zone, these areas are filled with mountains and hills, the regional economic development is unbalance. The floods vulnerability index in inland is the lowest, this area presents the character of flat open land and highly developed economy.(4)Famers’ famlies with higher education and better laboring capability present a relatively lower floods vulnerability index, this phenomenon elaborate that education level and laboring capability have a great effction on the precaution and recovery in the disaster,it will help famers to choose livelihoods more wisely and take full advantage of livelihood resources, furthermore, with the assistance of the government, they will be able to recover rapidly from negative disaster’s situations.
