The Design And Research Of Bamboo Furniture

In recent years,forests in the world are reducing sharply.And as people have paid more and more attention to the environmental problems,the green life style has become an popular trend in modern society and the bamboo has been increasingly used to make furniture and various appliances.Currently,bamboo forests all over the world has reached a total area of 22 million hectares,and they are still increasing at an annual rate of 3%,with the annual production of the bamboo material at 15-20 million tons.Our country’s bamboo forest area is 5.2 million hectares,accounting for 25% of the world’s total area of the bamboo forests.The prospects of bamboo industry,as an emerging giant industry,has been attracting more and more attention.Bamboo furniture as an old and traditional industry,is coming into the public view once again.The production of the bamboo furniture has boasted a long history,maintaining a pure,natural,fresh and elegant style,,which is well received by consumers.This paper conducted a general review of the the historical development,the present situation and the future trend of the bamboo furniture.It also classified and analyzed the the structural features and the connecting method of the traditional bamboo furniture and explored the general guidelines and methods in designing them by generalizing their features based on case studies.The article made great efforts to explore integrating traditional bamboo furniture and the modern simplistic design style on the basis the traditional structure.Besides,it also explored the basic ways for connection and the integrated use of multi-materials with the purpose of combing the traditional furniture and modern industry technology,which presents itself as a beneficial attempt for the design and production of the bamboo furniture.
