Gemini structure fatliquor is a kind of new fatliquor with high symmetry that has the very good development prospect in leather industry.Traditional sulfosuccinate salts which are typical of clean production, but its poor light fastness and stability, fatliquoring effect is not ideal in leather. The paper through raw material selection, technological condition selection and raw material compound with the means to enhance the performance of gemini structure fatliquor. The preparation process is green environmental protection; the main research content is divided into the following four parts:(1) Using 12-hydroxy stearic acid and glycol as raw materials,12-hydroxy stearic acid glycol double ester (hereinafter referred to as:EGDS) is synthesized by esterification reaction. Through the single factor experiment, the influences of various parameters on the reaction have been investigated and then the reaction conditions were determined by orthogonal experiments. The results showed that the optimum reaction conditions were confirmed: The mole ratio of 12-hydroxy stearic acid to ethylene glycol is 2:1.1, the temperature of reaction at 135 ? and the time of reaction is 4.0 h, the mass of catalyst p-toluene sulfonic acid is with 12-hydroxy stearic acid and ethylene glycol 0.6% of the total mass.The EDGS was synthesized under these conditions yield can reach over 99%. FTIR and 'HNMR EGDS are used for structural characterization.(2) With (1) in the preparation of EGDS as starting material,through maleic anhydride esterification reaction and sulfonation reaction to get EG-DS-SCF Gemini structure fatliquor. The effect of material mole ratio?reaction temperature?reaction time and other major factors on esterification and sulfonation reaction were studied. The better reaction conditions were determined as follows: The molar ratio of content with hydroxyl in EGDS to maleic anhydride is 1:1. 05, the temperature of reaction at 90 ? the time of reaction are 3.0 h in the esterification reaction; the molar ratio of maleic anhydride to anhydrous sodium sulfite is 1:1. 05, the temperature of reaction at 80 ? is necessary, the time of 3.0 h in the sulfonation reaction. The characteristics of maleic acid monoester and EG-DS-SCF gemini structure fatliquor are determined by FTIR.(3) Based on the (1) and (2) under the optimum synthesis conditions obtain PEG-DS-SCF gemini structure fatliquor. The first step is using 12-hydroxy stearic acid as raw material react with polyethylene glycol 300 and polyethylene glycol 400 respectively synthesized 12-hydroxy stearic acid polyethylene glycol double ester (called PEGDS for short) in the condition of (1); The second step to use PEGDS as material for esterification reaction and sulfonation reaction in the condition of (2). The two kinds of PEG-DS-SCF gemini structure fatliquor is synthesized that is P400-DS-SCF and P300-DS-SCF, and the former slightly better than the latter in physical and chemical properties , they have ideal yellowing resistance. Through the measurement of surface tension showed that its good surface activity.(4) EGDS and hydroxyl active material mix as the starting material, the suitable materials and dosage was confirmed by measuring and comparing the physical and chemical property of fatliquor.Eventually, the right choice is Span40?MOA-3?AEO-3 as mix materials which respectively choose their dosage is 20%?15% and 20% the mass of EGDS.In maleic anhydride esterification reaction when the mass of maleic anhydride for oil substance 25% of the total mass, afterwards sulfonation reaction under the condition of (2). There three stable EG-DS-S-SCF series of fatliquor are EDS-4, EDSM, EDSA, which emulsion stability, ullness and yellowing resistance performance is excellent, at the same time, they can give good physical and mechanical properties for leather.
