Spiral bevel gears are suitable for transmission between two intersecting axes of the space,It is widely used in the automobile,aerospace,ships,mining machinery oil drilling,heavy weapon and other fields,because of high overlap coefficient,strong bear capacity,compact structure,smooth transmission,large transmission ratio and other advantages.Currently spiral bevel gears mainly processed by gear milling machine,it is difficult to processing some large size spiral bevel gear because of the restrictions of machine structural dimension and the installation conditions.On the other hand,gear milling machines are expensive,the operating rates of machine is severely insufficient and left to lie idle for long periods when processing small batch of spiral bevel gears.Therefore,gear milling machine are unsuited for machining spiral bevel gears with large size and small batch.In order to make up for the shortage of CNC gear milling machine,and to solve the problems of processing spiral bevel gear with large size and small batch,this paper research on machining method of spiral bevel gear based on machining center,by using this method could get rid of the limitation of special machine tool,special fixture and special tool,besides the method will be able to achieve many kinds gear system and different specifications spiral bevel gears processing on machining center.This method not only reduces the processing cost of spiral bevel gears and simplifies processing technology,but also increases the flexibility of machining center.Based on the analysis of the traditional machining method and machining technology of spiral bevel gear,the research work of this paper is as follows:1.Deduced the tooth surface equation with analysis of the traditional cutting method of spiral bevel gear.on the basis of the above study,researched the method of construct3 D geometric model of spiral bevel gears.2.Based on the established gear model,calculated the cutter location of disc cutter cylindrical cutter and ball cutter on the machining center.The calculation of cutter location mainly includes:the method of cutter location generation,the calculation method of cutting step and cutting strip width,the control method of cutter axis vector and the processing method of avoiding interference3.According to the structure of NC machine tool and the control system of machine tool carry on post processing and generate NC code.4.Compiling processing software of spiral bevel gears base on the open software platform of Open CASCADE,the software is designed as four modules,which are gear model generation,tooth surface analysis,tool path planning and the NC code generator,realized the software modularization and objectification.5.In order to verify the correctness of the software and the processing method by simulating machining in the VERICUT software,finally,succesfully performing the actual machining experiment base on DMU60 CNC machining center.
