Catalysts are gradually deactivated in a reactor given the deposition of carbon and metals, thereby resulting in increased density. In this paper, the relationship between active and density of catalyst was found and a dynamic model of the particle movement was built based on the air acceleration classification.Under the coupled CFD-EDM simulation methods such as MATLAB and FLUENT,the separation processing of air acceleration classification was simulated and analyzed, and operating region, the state and statistics of particles and classification column were obtained. The effect of activity, air velocity and feed concentration on classification has been investigated. The results show that the efficiency of air acceleration classification generally increased then declined with the increase in air velocity, and peaked at the optimal separation efficiency rate of 89%under the following conditions:v0=3.36 m/s,f=1.5 Hz,and Q=8 kg/h,and particles in larger activity difference were easier to classified. The experimental results are consistent with the simulations,confirming-the feasibility of the air acceleration classification according to catalyst activity.Besides, the effects of particle size and shape on particle separation.have been investigated. The results show that the grain-size effect is enhanced with the increase in particle size difference under the same separation condition and the particles in bad circularity are easier to ascend with air compared to particles in good circularity. So The separation efficiency is a result of the interaction among multiple factors. The paper introduced the existing engineering application of air acceleration classification has been studied.A variety of different industrial applications show that the airflow acceleration separation process has a broad application prospects and good social and economic benefits.
