Research On Safety Distance Of Crude Oil Storage Tanks

With the development of the industry,the storage of crude oil is increasing year by year.As an important oil storage equipment,large-scale oil storage tank has drawn more and more attention.In order to ensure the safety in the operation of tanks,determining the safety distance is not only relative to the total invest,the running cost and the whole benefit of the company but also to the security of storage tanks.This paper analysis the crude oil storage tank safety distance setting principles and standards at home and abroad,also summarizes the present methods to determine the safety distance,and the applicable condition,the advantages and disadvantages of each method.CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)technology and the function and the development about Fluent software are introduced.A review about the validity of the CFD software in fire simulation is finished.Some theoretic suppositions and analysis about the flame shape of pool fire without wind are carried out,and physical and geometrical to the shape are established.The heat radiation to environment from the pool fire is thereby numerical simulated using Fluent software and choosing appropriate radiation model.Combining with thermal radiation damage criterion,the safety distance is determined.Finally,using the method of theoretical calculation computes the heat radiation of oil storage tank to determine the safety distance,then comparing with the simulation result.
