Toy is the significant partner of children’s growing process,and children’s growing up will be influenced unconsciously by the strengths and weaknesses of toy design.With the coming of the experience economy era,an increasing number of parents and children prefer to choose the intelligent toy with the function of interactive experience.However,most of the existing intelligent toy in the market has poor interactive experience and severely homogeneous competition which hinders the healthy development of preschool children in a certain extent.It is a significant research subject to design an intelligent toy to satisfy their experiences on the basis of their characteristics.On this background,we launches the research of interactive design of intelligent toys according to the characteristics of development of preschool children.In the practice of intelligent toys design Babytalk,we want to provide a sustainable research platform for interaction design of toys for preschool children’s intelligence.This paper is divided into five parts,the first part explains the definition and classification of intelligent toy user groups,which can provide a strong basis for design.The second part mainly launches the research from three aspects of Chinese intelligent toy’s actuality,the current social life conditions of pre-school children as well as the domestic and foreign status of the intelligent toys.The third part conduct the thorough research of interactive system of intelligent toy for pre-school children.In the framework of interactive system,we explain the five elements of interactive systems: people,activity,context technology.Based on the characteristics of preschool children’s physiology,perception,social and emotional development,we establish the sensory,behavioral and emotional interaction model to guide the interactive behavior of the voice interactive doll Babytalk to provide friendly experience for preschool children.Then we discussed the design principle of preschool children’s intelligence toys,including usability,security,interactivity and friendly four aspects.The fourth part describes the operation process of Babytalk.The fifth part describes that we conduct a user testing after finishing the product prototype,including the testing personnel screening,experimental procedure,experimental tasks and the experimental results.The user test of Babytalk indicates that:1)the interactive design model considering sensory interaction,behavior interaction and emotion interaction simultaneously is more feasible for intelligent toy for pre-school children.2)the voice interaction of natural user interface has essentially promoted the interactive experience of intelligent toy for pre-school children.The research of this paper provides scientific research methods for the interactive design of preschool children’s intelligent toys.The practice of Babytalk provides the basis and platform for the research of the sustainable development of the intelligent toys,which provides more possibility and direction for the development and design of intelligent toys.
