Press machine is one of the main products of our company.To obtain a bigger market share under severer competition,it must enhance the designing ability in all aspects especially in design cycle,quality,manpower,etc.By using CAD(computer aided design)in secondary development is already the first choice of most designers.In this article,CAD in secondary development is discussed combining with COM,API and VB programming.By analyzing characteristic parameters,logic relationship,part design,a method for secondary development of presses based on Inventor and its API technology with data computation driven by VB is established.(1)Parameters of press are categorized into driving parameters,driven parameters and fixed parameters according to their characteristics and functions of the three categories in 3D parameterization and their implementation as 3D drive are analyzed respectively,as well as their realization process.(2)Driven parameters are calculated through VB read and write in database and calling of fixed parameters taking driving parameters as the system input.(3)Logic of parameter design and principle of dimension chain are regulated in the analysis of structural design of press.Logic relationships and constrains among various parameters used in press design and logic calling process,interface and dimensional inheritance among different parts are also introduced.(4)The author specifically studied the influence of those parameters of each part on its functionality and determined the essentials for part design,proposed a designing method for different press parts through mechanical calculations and iterative optimization using VB programming.(5)By API calling of Inventor mother 3D model for parameters driving,3D models and 2D engineering drawings meet with technological requirements are exported in batch.Efficiency and accuracy of design of mechanical press are significantly improved by using the proposed development application,which has been making a great contribution to technical progress and competitiveness of our company.It is also a remarkable experiment in parameterization of design process.
