Objectives:To describe the stress levels,stressors and coping styles of maternal spouse;To explore the effects of health education in pregnancy school on maternal partners’ stresses and coping styles.Methods:A convenience sampling method was used in this study.From June 2015 to February 2016,100 spouses of pregnant women who had taken antenatal examinations in the Dalian Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital and finally chose the same hospital to deliver births were recruited to complete a series of questionnaires,including the Stresses of Pregnancy Scales,Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ).They were divided into interventional group and control group,with 50 cases in each group.The interventional group received the health education from pregnancy school,but the control group did not.After 42 days postpartum review,all the 100 spouses were assessed again by the same questionnaires.The SPSS 17.0 was used for data analysis.Results:⑴The stress scale showed that pregnant women’s spouses were at moderate level.“Stresses on seeking safety for herself and child through pregnancy,labor and delivery” scored highest,the second was “Stresses on altering body structure and body function”,“Stresses from process of identifying maternal role” scored lowest.There were no significant differences in the scores of pregnant stress scale between two groups before the intervention(P>0.05).⑵The spouses of pregnant women,whose stressors were sorted using the Stress of Pregnancy Scale,and six of the top ten positive pressure sources were correlated with“Stresses on seeking safety for herself and child through pregnancy,labor and delivery”.It is the main reason for stress.⑶ There were no significant differences in the coping styles between two groups before the intervention(P>0.05).⑷After health education from pregnancy school,There had been significant differences in the two groups for the variations of the pregnant pressure(P<0.05).In the interventional group,in addition to the " Stress on altering body structure and body function " no obvious changes," Stresses on seeking safety for herself and child through pregnancy,labor and delivery "," Stresses on process of identifying maternal role ",and "The other item" were all decreased than before.Among them with "Stresses on seeking safety for herself and child through pregnancy,labor and delivery" improved the most significantly.⑸There were significant differences in the coping styles between two groups after health education from pregnancy school(P>0.05).In the interventional group,the score of positive coping style was increased,and the score of negative coping style was decreased.However,there were no obvious changes in the scores of the two coping styles in the control group.Conclusion:⑴ The stresses of pregnant women’s spouses were at a moderate level.The stressors mostly came from " Stresses on seeking safety for herself and child through pregnancy,labor and delivery".And the spouses mostly often took the "Comfort yourself" negative coping style.⑵ The health education in pregnancy school was helpful to reduce the stress level of pregnant women’s spouses and was also helpful to adopt positive coping style for them.
