| We have identified the plant extract of Cinnamomum chartophyllum H. W. Li that harbors Nrf2-inducing effects and the chemical constituents of C. chartophyllum H. W. Li have been phytochemically investigated. The obtained compounds were isolated by different chromatographic methods, including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and high performance liquid chromatography. With the methods of thin layer chromatography and ultraviolet fluorescence analyzer to identify the purity of the components and then their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses and mass spectrum, particularly the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.Thirty-two known compounds were isolated from the petroleum ether and ethyl acetate parts of ethanol extract of C. chartophyllum H. W. Li, including nine aliphatic compounds: n-Dotriacontane(1), n-Octacosanol(2), n-Dotriacontanol(3), n-Eicosanic acid(4), lignoceric acid(5), hexacosanoic acid(6), heptacosanoic acid(7), octacosyl palmitate(8), octacosanyl arachidate(9); four monoterpenoids: 5α-Hydroxy-2-oxo-p-menth-6(1)-ene(10), l-8-Hydroxycarvotanacetone(11),(4R,6R)-6-Hydroxypiperitone(12),(4S,6R)-6-Hydroxypiperitone(13); two sesquiterpenoids: 3S-(+)-9-oxonerolidol(14), 2-methyl-6-(p-tolyl)heptane-2,3-diol(15); three phenolic acids: protocatechuic acid(16), isovanillic acid(17), ethyl protocatechuate(18); one aromatic compound: 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene(19); one biphenyl compound: 3,3’,4,4’-tetrahydroxydiphenyl(20); one tetrahydronaphthalene ketone: 4-Hydroxy-4,7-dimethyl-1-tetralone(21); one bi-2H-benzopyran: rel-(3R,3’S,4R,4’S)-3,3’,4,4’-Tetrahydro-6,6’-dimethoxy[3,3’-bi-2H-benzopyran]-4,4’-diol(22); two lignans: l-Sesamin(23),(-)-piperitol(24); one chromogen ketone: 5,7-dihydroxychromone(25); one flavone: genkwanin(26); two flavonols: kaempferol(27), quercetin(28); one flavanone: 3’,4’,5,7-tetrahydroxyflavanone(29); one flavanonol: 5,7,4’-trihydroxy-dihydroflavonol(30); one flavan-3-ol:(-)-(2R,3R)-5,7-dimethoxy-3’,4’-methylenedioxy-flavan-3-ol(31) and one steroid: β-sitosterol(32). All compounds were isolated from C. chartophyllum H. W. Li for the first time. Our research will lay a foundation for further study on active substances of C. chartophyllum H. W. Li, and provide a scientific basis for the further development. |
