The dissertation consisted of four chapters. The former two chapters respectively elaborated the physiochemical investigation of two herbal medicines: Lgiusticum chuanxiong Hort. and Codonopsis tangshen Oliv.. Thirty two compounds, including two new ones, were isolated and identified by various column chromatography methods and spectral and chemical evidences. The third chapter reported the preliminary evaluation of the anti-inflammatory analgesic activity about Anemone vitifolia Buch.-Ham.. The fourth chapter summarized the study progress of chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of the genus Codonopsis(Campanulaceae). The first chapter was about the chemical constituents of the MeOH extracts from the Lgiusticum chuanxiong Hort.. Through normal and reversed phase silica gel column chromatography, sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatography and the preparation of high performance liquid chromatography(PHPLC) methods, nine compounds were isolated. Six of them were identified as ferulic acid(1),(E)-4-(3-hydroxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-2-methoxy-phenol(2), vernine(3), senkyunolide I(4), daucosterol(5), perlolyrine(6). Among them, compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The second chapter presented the chemical constituents of the MeOH extracts from the Codonopsis tangshen Oliv..Through normal and reversed phase silica gel column chromatography, sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatography and PHPLC methods, twenty three compounds were isolated. Among them, two compounds were identified as new compounds and named as tangshenyne A(14), tangshenyne B(15). Sixteen known compounds were identified as taraxeryl acetate(7), friedelin(8), 24-methylenecycloar-tan-3β-ol(9),pinoresinol(10), isoconiferin(11), syringin(12), butyl-β-D-fructopyranoside(13),lobetyolin(16), cordifolioidyne B(17), lobetyol(18), lobetyolinin(19), 9-(tetrahydropyran-2-yl)-non-trans-2,8-diene-4,6-diyn-l-ol(20), 9-(tetrahydropyran-2-yl)-non-trans-8-ene-4,6-yn-l-ol(21), p-hydroxy benzaldehyde(22), sucrose(23), 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde(24). Compounds 10, 13, 20 and 21 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The third chapter was about the preliminary evaluation of the anti-inflammatory analgesic activity on Anemone vitifolia Buch.-Ham.. In the analgesic activity of the active evaluation experiment, the high, middle and low dose all showed the effect on the painful reaction caused by acetic acid, and enhanced the inhibition with the increase of the dose. Among them, the inhibitory effect of the high dose group was much stronger than that of the positive control drug, tripterygium wilfordii glycosides. In the experiment of evaluating anti-inflammatory activity, the high and middle dose groups have obvious inhibitory effect on mice ear swelling caused by dimethylbenzene. However, the low dose group has no obvious inhibitory effect. The last chapter summarized the study progress on the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of the genus Codonopsis(Campanulaceae).
