Objective:Our study has studied the Posttraumatic Growth Levels in spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients and investigated the influence factors for Posttraumatic Growth Levels. We aimed at leading spouses of Gastrointestinal CancerPatients to positively addressing unpleasant traumatic experience.Furthermore, the nurses can help them sustain in good psychosomatic state and improve the care quality as well as the quality of life of the whole family.Method:Our study was Cross-sectional study which involved questionnaires for 160spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients who stay in gastroenterology Department of our hospital during July to December 2016 with convenient sampling method. Our questionnaires included demographic data for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients, clinical disease information for patients,Posttraumatic Growth Scale,Event related rumination questionnaire and general self-efficacy scale. All the statistical analysis for our data were performed using SPSS 21.0 software. The statistical analysis methods include descriptive statistics,Student t-test,one-way ANOVA,Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis.Results:1.Posttraumatic Growth score for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were 52.99±19.88 which reflect low level of Posttraumatic Growth. All the scores for different dimensions were3.07±1.21(appreciation of life).2.59±1.12(personal power)?2.46±0.89(relationship with other people)?2.42±1.04(new possibility)?2.02±1.15(Spiritual change).2.The Rumination Score for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were 33.61 ±8.13.All the scores for different dimensions were initiative rumination(18.131±5.39),invasive rumination(15.48±4.78).3.The Self-efficacy Score for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were 25.44±6.10 which were lower than national norms(28.64±5.21).4.We found that the Posttraumatic Growth score differences of spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients in subgroups according to age, career, average family income, care time, family relationships,patients'self-careability,pathology stage had statistical significance by using Student t test and one-way ANOVA analysis. The Posttraumatic Growth score differences of spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients in subgroups according to sex, education levels, religious belief, payment methods, hospitalized times, treatment had no statistical significance.5.The rumination score and purposeful rumination dimension for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients has positive correlation with Posttraumatic Growth by Pearson correlation analysis. The invasive rumination showed negative correlation with Posttraumatic Growth. Moreover, the self efficiency showed positive correlation with Posttraumatic Growth.6.We found that the influence factors for Posttraumatic Growth levels of spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were self care ability, pathology stage, purposeful rumination, invasive rumination, self efficacy by using Hierarchical and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis(Multivariate correlation coefficient 0.807,Co variance 65.20%).The Posttraumatic Growth level for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients was negative correlated with patients'self-care abilities. The spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients who with pathology stage ? got the highest Posttraumatic Growth level. The Posttraumatic Growth levels for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were positively correlated with purposeful rumination, self efficacy, and negatively correlated with invasive rumination.Conclusions:1.The spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients showed low Posttraumatic Growth levels2.The influence factors for Posttraumatic Growth levels of spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients include age, career, average family income, care time, family relationships, patients' self-care ability, pathology stage.3.The Posttraumatic Growth levels for spouses of Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients were positively correlated with purposeful rumination, self efficiency, and negatively correlated with invasive rumination.4.Self-care ability of patients, pathologic stage, purpose ruminant, invasive rumination and self-efficacy are spouses digestive tract malignant tumor patients significantly influence factors of posttraumatic growth.
