The Pathogenesis Of Asthenozoospermia Based On "Xiang Thinking" And The Experience Of Professor Cao Ji-gang

[Objective]There were two objectives of this study.The first aim was to apply "Xiang thinking" as a novel perspective to the etiological and pathogenic analysis of asthenozoospermia.The second aim was to conduct a case study regarding Professor Cao's cases of successful treatment of asthenozoospermia,as well as to develop the current therapies for providing better medical services.[Method]Adopting literature research methods by consulting ancient and modern literature reference of "Xiang thinking" from the epistemological point of view.[Result]"Xiang" can be divided into three categories: appearance,figurative and imagery.Deriving from the meaning of the sky,the ancients had enriched the meaning of this image,which later became an important theoretical base of TCM syndrome.The image of logical thinking is the main form of the expression.With the enhancement of thinking activities,the meaning of symbol had been gradually developed,and in the application of concrete thinking,the derivation of the viscera of Xiang had become another important source of TCM syndrome differentiation.Thinking method is also an important achievement of Xiang thinking application.These three belonged to a specific category of Xiang thinking.Imagery resembles the way of thinking in the path of abstract expression.Through the induction,summary and deduction to generate intentions,the evolutionary process of hieroglyphics embodies the process of image and abstract.And Gua model has been an advanced degree of summary of the natural reason,and has exerted a profound impact on disease in Chinese medicine.The mode of “Xiang thinking” for understanding sperm included following parts: yin and yang model is the most basic thinking model and semen is divided into yin and yang,thus sperm is yang while semen is yin.“Zang Xiang” model is a summary of the functions of organs.It has been classified into the kidney model by summarizing the phenomenon of "Zhu Sheng Zong Shi" of sperms.It has also been the actual presents of "legislation as intended" of Xiang thinking.The five elements model is the link between organs and the nature,describing the awareness of five elements under the model of nozoospermia through the legislation of the kidneys.Some patients with asthenozoospermia showed no obvious abnormalities of tongue veins while the main clinical symptom was just semen parameters abnormalities,which were difficult to be detected.Based on the Xiang thinking model,however,such disease can be diagnosed by the characteristics of semen,including its color,microscopic image,smell,etc.A case study regarding Professor Cao's cases of successful treatment of asthenozoospermia: Two methods,"clear metal to support water" and "reduce fire to control water",were used by Professor Cao to treated against asthenozoospermia compared with his clinical experience.Such therapies had achieved expected effects in clinic studies.[Conclusion]Xiang thinking is an original thinking model of traditional Chinese medicine.By building models through observation,contact and comparing unknown objects,purpose of understanding things can be achieved.The Etiologies and pathogenesis of asthenozoospermia were not well studied.Therefore,exploring the pathogenesis of asthenozoospermia based on Xiang thinking is likely to meet the demand for effective diagnostic methods and therapies.The therapies of asthenozoospermia based on Xiang thinking model have resulted to exciting treatment effects.
